Let me clear with this example-
Question asked by RavenxWing on 18 Dec 2011:
Hello, I’m 18 and I have some severe anxiety issues that make it where it’s really difficult for me to sleep sometimes…my mom sometimes gives me some of her Ambien to help me sleep, but since I’ve been taking it for a while it sometimes takes two pills to help me get some rest…
Sometimes, I know that’s not good for me, and I know I need to stop. I have been on birth control for the past year and a half but I stopped taking it as soon as I started college.
Above all, I haven’t had a period since the beginning of August. I decided that I needed to see a doctor about my missed periods, but I’m afraid that if I have to have a blood test/urine test taken, they will find out I’ve been taking a drug that wasn’t prescribed for me. Even, I want to get off this medication before I schedule an appointment and get some tests done.
P.S.- How long does Ambien stay in your system?
First, let me say that I doubt the gynaecologist will test you for drugs. She/he may do a urine analysis, but only to check for infection and things like glucose or protein in the urine, not drugs. If you are still leary, Ambien has what is called a short half-life, which means it doesn’t stay in the system for very long. You didn’t mention what strength pills you are taking or whether they are extended-release or not so it is hard to give you an exact answer, but 48 hours after the last dose would be safe to say it would be out of your system.
5. Taking Ambien With Xanax
Ambien should alone be sufficient for fall you asleep. So, if you take Xanax with Ambien then you absolutely have to stop Xanax unless it can be a cause of serious withdrawals.
